“I am so excited about being able to provide local students with the opportunity to pursue higher education,” said Elaine. In her previous role as Senior Vice President of the Boys & Girls Club of the Mountain Empire and other roles in education, she said she witnessed too many students opt out of pursuing higher education because they didn’t have the resources, were first-generation college students, or just didn’t understand the application process. Seventeen percent of adults ages 25 and above in GO Virginia Region 1 have a bachelor’s degree or higher, according to Chmura’s JobsEQ, ACS, 2017. “We are going to a take our students by the hand and go through the admission process together,” she added.

Elaine is no stranger to teaching and working with students of all ages. In addition to her recent position at Boys & Girls Club, she also worked at Virginia Highlands Community College in the advancement department.

“Virginia Business College will change lives. Not only the lives of our students, but we will change the region by producing quality, business-minded professionals who will impact the community.” Elaine Rock

Elaine resides in Bristol, VA with her husband John who works at First Bank & Trust and her “furry friends” Bella and Boomerang (dogs) and Socks and Little Bit (cats). Elaine and John have two sons, Christopher works in logistics in Knoxville, TN and Andrew is a senior at East Tennessee State University studying digital media.
